LATCH & HOOD-ACCESS GUIDE

How to Open and Unlatch an Ex-Guard

Identify your latch type, review the steps and watch the matching demonstration before opening your guard.

IMPORTANT SAFETY STEP

Control the Guard Before Releasing the Latch

Keep one hand on the upper portion of the guard at all times. Failure to secure the guard before unlatching—or to control its descent—may result in serious bodily injury.

XG & EX GENERATION 3

LEVRLock Latch

Keep one hand on the upper portion of the guard. Push the handle down and toward the truck to latch. Rotate the handle up and away from the truck to release, then repeat on the other side while controlling the guard’s descent.

  1. 01

Hold the upper portion of the guard before operating either latch.

  2. 02

To latch, push each handle down and toward the truck until secure.

  3. 03

To unlatch, rotate each handle up and away from the truck, one side at a time.

XG GENERATION 1 & 2

Dual Cam Latch

The dual-cam design uses a latch on each side. Secure the guard with one hand before releasing either side so the guard cannot drop unexpectedly.

  1. 01

Keep one hand firmly on the upper portion of the guard.

  2. 02

Pull the handle outward past the locking pin.

  3. 03

Rotate the handle back toward the truck, then repeat on the other side.

LT GENERATIONS 1–3 & HD GENERATION 2

Single-Hand Release

This latch uses one release bar. Maintain control of the guard throughout the movement and never allow it to fall open under its own weight.

  1. 01

Stand in a stable position and hold the upper portion of the guard.

  2. 02

Pull and rotate the latch bar up and forward toward the front of the guard.

  3. 03

Guide the guard down slowly and under control.
