Added Approach-Angle Clearance
Tapered Style guards were offered within the HD 500G1 family. The profile was developed to provide more approach-angle clearance for off-road applications and to complement tapered truck bumper designs.
Volvo VHD models required the Tapered design within this legacy product family.

STYLE COMPARISON
Tapered Versus Standard Geometry
The lower outer profile created additional clearance where a standard rectangular guard could limit the approach angle. This made Tapered Style relevant to off-road work and trucks with a tapered bumper design.
Ex-Guard guards in this generation generally weighed 90–240 lb. and used a thick, corrosion- and chip-resistant PVC coating for long-term protection.
